Disney+ launched in South Africa in May 2022, and the local market needed a campaign that felt both globally premium and locally relevant. We produced launch content, talent-led moments, and social activations that welcomed South African audiences into the Disney+ universe.
A global streaming launch can feel generic. The brief was to make Disney+ feel like it had always belonged in South Africa — with local voices, cultural nuance, and moments that sparked conversation and sign-ups.
Lead with emotion and familiarity: use beloved Disney, Marvel, and Star content as the hook, but frame the launch through South African talent and occasions. Create hero films for broadcast and digital, plus a steady drumbeat of social content that kept the launch top of mind.
