Launch campaign for Nguni News on Mzansi Wethu — a show bringing a fresh, culturally relevant perspective to South African news and current affairs.
Mzansi Wethu is a culturally rooted broadcast platform celebrating South African stories, traditions, and perspectives. Nguni News represents a bold editorial venture—bringing fresh, culturally nuanced journalism to prime-time television, combining traditional newsgathering with contemporary storytelling approaches that resonate with younger, digitally-native audiences.
South African news audiences are increasingly fragmented, with younger viewers gravitating toward social media and digital platforms for their news consumption. Traditional broadcast news, while still significant, faces competition for attention and credibility. Nguni News needed to establish itself as a credible, engaging news source that spoke authentically to South African audiences while carving out a distinct editorial perspective within the crowded news landscape.
The launch campaign had to: - Build awareness among core target demographics - Establish editorial credibility and journalistic authority - Communicate the fresh, culturally relevant approach - Drive tune-in for the premiere and establish viewing habits - Create social conversation around the show and its perspective
The launch concept centered on authenticity and cultural relevance. Rather than positioning Nguni News as simply "another news show," we framed it as journalism that understands and reflects South African culture and perspective. The campaign emphasized voices, stories, and angles often underrepresented in mainstream news coverage.
The positioning was: "News told from where we stand—grounded in our culture, connected to our communities."
